This exclusive course, led by renowned director Sian Davies, offers a transformative learning experience for actors seeking to refine their craft and elevate their on-screen performances. Through a combination of practical exercises and expert guidance, students will delve into essential aspects of the acting for screen process. You will explore audition and self-tape techniques, you’ll learn to harness the power of subtlety and authenticity, captivating audiences through nuanced performances that shine on camera.
The course goes beyond technical skills and delves into the heart of acting, emphasising the practice of being in-the-moment. Students will immerse themselves in the present moment, honing their ability to respond truthfully and spontaneously in their performances. Additionally, you will gain insights into on-set techniques and the expectations of a working actor, mastering the art of delivering top-notch performances in fast-paced and demanding set environments. There will be improvisational and repetition exercises, designed to unleash creativity, break free from preconceived notions, and discover the joy of playful exploration.

About Sian Davies:
Sian Davies is an award-winning director and writer of television and film. Sian’s work includes directing The Gloaming (Stan and ABC Studios), Bloom, Reef Break, Bad Mothers, Wentworth, House Husbands, and True Story with Hamish and Andy. Sian was set-up director for Playing For Keeps, which received a TV Week Award for Best New Series.
In 2016, she directed the third series of the International Emmy® Award-winning series Nowhere Boys, for which she received a 2017 ADG Award nomination for Best Direction in a Children’s Drama Series. She also directed the fourth series of Nowhere Boys in 2018. Previously, Sian directed all episodes of the first season of The Ex-PM, which also earned her an ADG Award nomination for Best Direction of a Comedy Series. Her other credits include episodes of the internationally-acclaimed ABC drama series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Offspring, Rush, Mr and Mrs Murder, Winners and Losers, and Satisfaction. She also wrote one episode of Mr. and Mrs Murder. Most recently, Sian wrapped on the Netflix series Surviving Summer.
Sian has written and directed several short films that have enjoyed extensive festival play worldwide. Her debut film Poetry premiered at MIFF in 2007, and Piñata had its world premiere in competition at MIFF in 2009. Her VCA graduate film Blackout screened at Cannes and Clermont
