Unlock your own unique process and harness the tools for creating and inhabiting screen characters and collaborating with any director.

Actors and directors must have a symbiotic relationship, bringing different skillsets together to reach a common goal. Through continual experimental play on challenging scenes and exercises, guided by Jason, this is your opportunity to stretch your capacity as an actor. This short course will also demystify the language of a director, and empower actors to identify exactly what they need from their director in order to realise their best performance.

Over eight weeks you will build on your actor toolkit and develop a deeper understanding of your own artistic process. Jason will then challenge you to bring your unique process to the actor/director relationship, training you to deliver what the director wants, while staying true to yourself and your unique process.

This class is suited to Intermediate and Advanced actors who want to dive through the mess of acting techniques, understand their own process, find their secret sauce, strengthen their actor/director relationships and create powerful moments on screen.

Jason brings energy, intelligence and a collaborative spirit into the studio. His directing and screenwriting experience combine to help students find their own unique process to approach the work.

This performance-focused course combines scene work with industry insights and exercises and is also suitable for aspiring actor/directors

COURSE OUTCOMES:

  • Define your own unique process for on-camera acting, and continually practice and refine that process with scene work.

  • Challenge your perceptions of who you are and what you can play!

  • Understand the writer’s intention with script analysis techniques from an award winning writer/director.
