Our Beginners #1 course is the ultimate course for aspiring actors. Designed to give the budding actor both the confidence and the skill to get up in front of a camera with a professional attitude and focus that lends itself to the beginnings of a great acting career.

This four-week course is simple, practical, informative and essential to the beginner. Conducted by one of Australia’s most experienced and respected actors, Mick Preston. Mick trained with the esteemed Uta Hagen in New York who also taught actors like: Matthew Broderick, Sigourney Weaver, Liza Minnelli, Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Lemmon, and Al Pacino. ⁠ Mick has experience acting in New York, LA and Australia where he has worked on shows like AMC’s 'Preacher’, ‘Shantaram’ with Charlie Hunnam and Feature Films like ‘the Legend of Ben Hall’.

Whether you've had some experience in the theatre, have done background work, or are completely new to acting, this course will endow you with a comprehensive, complete understanding of the screen acting process, while working entirely on camera.

In Beginners #1 you will learn the key foundational elements of acting. Unlike other schools, our beginners course focusses on working in front of the camera, building confidence, skill and artistry on the road the screen mastery.

Perfect for complete beginners, actors who have been out of the game and want a refresher, or theatre trained actors looking to transition to screen.

About Mick Preston:

Mick Preston trained as an actor in New York, where he studied with the late Uta Hagen, including being personally invited by Ms Hagen to be one of only a handful of students to perform in the documentary, ‘Acting Class by Uta Hagen’. Mick lived in the US for 11 years, 9 of those years in New York and 2 in Los Angeles. During his time there he also studied several other styles of acting including Method, Meisner technique, Michael Chekov and Le Coq. As a performer Mick has worked extensively in film, television, theatre, commercials, voice overs and corporate role plays.
