TAFTA Workshops allow Teens to Drop-In to a professional level audition masterclass run by Working Casting Directors, Acting Coaches and Directors.

This is perfect for any teen actors who want to learn how to be more confident in the audition room, deepen their understanding of character, acting, and the screen, and also meet the busiest Casting Directors in the business, whose willingness to impart their years of experience to young actors is second to none.

Our Teens Drop-In Workshops also include Screenwriting, Monologue Workshops and more, for Teens who want to learn a new skill within the filmmaking industry!

MELBOURNE TEENS SCRIPT WRITING WORKSHOP

with Award-Winning Writer/Director Tim Marshall
Dates: December 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th
Location: 60 Dawson St, Brunswick
Times: 3:30pm - 6:30pm
Designed Specifically for Teens, this two weekend course will immerse you into screenwriting. You will learn what goes into creating your favourite film and TV shows, how to create a story, and then the technical and artistic elements of writing your own screenplay!
You will finish the course with a completed screenplay as well as knowledge on how to use screenplay software !

ONLINE TEENS ONLY CASTING DIRECTOR WORKSHOP

With Casting Director David Newman
Dates: Sunday December 11th
Location: TAFTA ONLINE
Time: 10am-1pm
Casting Director David Newman from McSweeney Newman Casting is known for casting “Dora & The Lost City of Gold’, ‘The Family Law’, ‘Tidelands’ and more! David will take you through the audition process, answer all your burning questions and you will also get to perform a scene for Dave which he will give you feedback and direction on. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from Dave and get to work with him, so don't miss out!
About David - David has worked in various aspects of the industry for the last 25 years, the last 15 years in casting, including 7 years working Christine King Casting. Having started his casting career with hundreds of commercial projects he then progressed to work on some of the biggest and most successful feature film & long-form drama projects to shoot in Australia.
He spent 15 months as the Australian Casting Associate on 'The Pacific' (Stephen Spielberg, Tom Hanks, HBO), scoured the country and personally conducting well over 3000 auditions on this project alone. 'The Pacific' won the 2010 Emmy award for Outstanding Casting for a Mini-Series, Movie or Special.

Peter has over 20 years’ industry experience and 10 years’ specialising as a casting director. He began his casting career with Maura Fay Casting before branching out with his own company in Queensland. Peter Rasmussen has cast feature films including AACTA nominated The Butterfly Tree and Celeste. While with Maura Fay Casting he worked on many Network Television Shows including Neighbours, Packed to the Rafters, Sea Patrol, H20 – Just add water, The Doctor Blake Mysteries and the Underbelly Movies Files to name a few.

SYDNEY TEENS CASTING DIRECTOR WORKSHOP

With Casting Director Jo Briant (Fountainhead Casting)

Jo Briant is a Casting Director at Fountainhead Casting and has been a successful actor for 37 years. She has worked extensively in theatre, film and television in New Zealand and Australia appearing in projects such as The End the Beginning, Life Goals, Bondi Slayer, Reckoning, Smokescreen, Kairos, Dave and Theo, The Fighting Season, MotherLode, Psychoanalysis, Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am, Home and Away, The Moodys, All Saints, Water Rats, Murder Call, Big Sky, Shortland Street and numerous commercials and voiceovers. She is also an experienced Director, Acting Coach, Success Coach and Energy Healer. She loves combining acting, casting and coaching, as her wealth of experience and intimate understanding of an actors world both on screen and off enables her to guide other actors in a fun and nurturing way.
