Northside Casting take a contemporary approach to casting and love to work with likeminded creatives on all projects big and small. They strive to create a warm environment that is inclusive and diverse. Their passion is to discover and nurture emerging talent and endeavour to find the best cast for the job!

This Casting Masterclass will be focussed on not only working on scenes, but also teaching you skills that can help you find your relaxation and focus in the audition room and in your self tape, bringing a sense of play and aliveness to your work and being present and available in the audition.

Ally will begin with a Q&A and Industry chat, then she will work on your scenes with you, giving you feedback and direction in the room, and finally you will finish off the session working on some TVC/Commercial auditions. Ally will cover the key things that all casting directors, directors and clients look for in a TVC audition, how to think quickly on your feet to fit the brief, and how to bring realistic energy and enthusiasm into your scene.

PREPARATION:

You will be asked to provide your own scene for this masterclass. Please choose a scene that is no more than two pages long - something that you are drawn to, passionate about, or would love to play at some point. Please ensure you are off book and ready to work with Ally on your scene.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Ally will begin with a chat about the industry, casting, auditions and self tapes. She will take you through warm up & focus exercises you can use to ground yourself before any audition, self tape, or scene.

You will then perform your scenes for Ally, who will give you feedback and work the scenes with you up on the floor.

You will finish by working on some TVC auditions with Ally, working on how to think quickly on your feet to fit the brief, and bring realistic energy and enthusiasm into your scene.

This will be a fun, hands on, active and energetic masterclass - you will leave feeling confident to tackle your next audition, with a comprehensive understanding of casting and the industry, and feeling like you have worked hard!

Why is it important to learn how TVC auditions work?

Book a TVC and you can have the freedom to pursue your creative ambitions with less financial pressure - plus, any chance to practice and showcase your craft to Casting Directors and Directors is a good thing. (Fun Fact: David Fincher and Adam McKay started their careers working on commercials!).

Please note: This workshop is open to actors aged 15 and above! If you do not fall within this age range but think you are suitable please call us on 1300 949 570.
