Founder of McLeod Casting, Thea McLeod is one of Australia’s most prominent casting directors with a wide breadth of work ranging from international films to television, Thea has a passion for discovering and nurturing the next generation of A-list actors from Australia and beyond. Thea spent eleven years in the UK where she was both an actress and a casting director, gaining much experience on an international level for film, television, and commercials.⁠

Known for her work as the resident Casting Director for Neighbours for the last twelve years, which will resume shooting this year, Thea is also a seasoned Film & TV Casting Director. Over the last twelve years, while casting Neighbours full time, she has cast a whopping TWELVE Feature Film/TV series. Her most recent project is the new TV Series Riptide! Her other recent credits include “Measure 4 Measure”, a film adaptation of Shakespeare's classic starring Hugo Weaving (which she executive produced as well) and the brand new Drama Series 'Lie With Me' which Aired 2021 in the UK to 3.5 million viewers. ⁠

Thea will also be able to answer your questions on the casting process, how to approach Casting Directors if you don’t have an agent, and the best way to make an impact with your self tape.

PREPARATION: 

We will send you a scene 5 to 7 days prior to class commencement. Please ensure you have learnt this scene - treat this like an audition!

COURSE OUTLINE:

In this workshop you will perform a scene for Thea, and she will give you direction and feedback on your scene, which you will need to bring into your next take. Be ready to cold read new scenes and work on the fly, just like in the audition room! The workshop will end with a Q&A where Thea will provide invaluable insight into casting in the T.V. and Film industry. Thea will answer any questions you have about the industry, giving you the very best tips to enhance your opportunities as an actor in the entertainment industry.
