WELCOME TO FILM CLUB & SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
WELCOME TO FILM CLUB!
Film Club is a way for actors to watch, discuss and dissect some of the industry’s best and most impactful films.
HOW IT WORKS:
Each week, TAFTA Director, John Orcsik, will pick a film.
You will have that week to watch the selected film- remember to take notes, and pay particular attention to the acting. On occasions, there will be specific questions/scenes to answer/look out for.
There will be a weekly Zoom session for a virtual discussion of the film! Join John as he goes in- depth to dissect and discuss. This will be the chance to share your own thoughts and insights of the movie.

WORDS FROM JOHN:
Released in Feb 2001, The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most lauded films of all time. It grossed $272.7 million against a budget of $19 million and made it the fifth highest grossing film of 1991. It became only the third film to win Academy Awards in five major categories; Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay.
It has been cited by critics world-wide as one of the greatest and most influential pictures of all time. The film is also considered, culturally, historically and aesthetically significant by the US Library of Congress and was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry in 2011.Both Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins received world wide acclaim for their performances with Jodie Foster’s Clarice Starling voted as the sixth greatest film hero of all time and Anthony Hopkins as the number one film villain of all time by the American Film Institute. Hopkins performance and stamp on the film is unforgettable and when you consider that his total screen time in the film is a mere 25 minutes. Of course the film wasn’t without its critics but let’s leave that to a group discussion. If you haven’t seen it, then it’s a must. If you have seen it, watch it again and see what new things you can find. I have seen it several times and I find something new every time.
