Advanced Screen Acting Course for the accomplished teen actor

TAFTA’s Advanced Teen Program is an invite-only accelerated screen acting program for Teens.

The Advanced Teen class is for students who have been recognised by their teachers as hard working, committed and eager to learn. This program will develop advanced skills that actors will need to work professionally in the industry.

You will learn skills that will be directly applicable in auditions and call-backs, on professional sets, and when working with directors.

Students may be invited personally by TAFTA at the end of a term of studies based on teacher recommendations, class attendance and merit.

EACH CLASS WILL COMBINE SCENE ANALYSIS AND PRACTICAL EXERCISES TO

-       INSPIRE IMAGINATION

-       LEARN HOW TO GIVE AND RECEIVE PERFORMANCE FEEDBACK

-       CULTIVATE A HEALTHY ACTOR/DIRECTOR RELATIONSHIP

-       CREATE A COMPLEX SCREEN CHARACTER

-       LEARN HOW TO TELL A SCREEN STORY

Over the course of 8 weeks students will build an actor/director toolkit to aid in creating and capturing characters for the screen.

  • Students will examine and learn how actors and directors collaborate to tell a screen story.

  • Students will be aided to better understand their process in order to get the most out of their performances and work with any director.

  • Students will test their processes, including directing each other to realise a screen story.

  • Students will experience the on-set process, learning scene coverage, and how to adjust their performance from a wide shot to close.

  • Students will explore the choices and techniques actors and directors make for the camera.

  • Students will explore how to use movement of themselves and the camera to build a character.

  • Students will be put through their paces in real actor/director situations and learn how to receive feedback and adjust their performance.

  • Teens will work directly with a Casting Director on Audition Technique, working in the industry and how to self tape successfully and book the job!

TESTIMONIALS

“The TAFTA teens courses and workshops helped tremendously in understanding how to act in front of the camera, and were extremely useful in terms of knowing what to expect in the industry. To anyone who asks how they can further their acting skills, I always recommend that they go to TAFTA, as I truly believe that it opened so many opportunities for me.”
